On Equity in Milk Pricing
What we insist on is a form of pricing equity that looks to the substance and not the shadow, to the spirit and not the letter; it seeks justice rather than technicality; truth rather than evasion; common sense rather than quibbling.
It pleads for a fair distribution of monies among producers that reflect the real market value of their individual products.
It provides no incentive for adulteration and sends up a clear pricing signal for the industry to bring forth the most tasty and nutritious products of which it is capable.
No other pricing system under consideration provides advantage for both the producers of quality milk and consumers who have shown their desire for a more flavorful, more nutritious product.
Many seem to forget, the consumer of dairy products is the final arbiter of the industry's ability to survive and grow.
