Type
Traits Appraiser - Part-Time A
position as Type Traits Appraiser for the American Jersey Cattle
Association, with additional responsibilities for National All-Jersey Inc.
and subsidiary Jersey Marketing Service, is available immediately. The
successful candidate will provide accurate cow-side evaluation for the
AJCA linear type traits appraisal program, plus direct on-farm service to
Jersey herd owners. This is a part-time position involving extensive travel. The position description is provided below. The American Jersey Cattle Association,
organized in 1868, maintains identification and performance records for
dairy herd owners and provides services that support genetic improvement
and greater profitability through increasing the value of and demand for
Registered Jersey™ cattle and genetics, and Jersey milk and milk
products. The AJCA was the first dairy breed organization in the U.S. to
provide on-demand 24/7 customer service on the Internet at
www.infoJersey.com. Its core product is REAP, a highly cost-effective
package of animal ID and registration, production and type evaluations,
and milk marketing support from National All-Jersey Inc. The NAJ
subsidiary Jersey Marketing Service has marketed an average of $10.3
million of live cattle and embryos at auction sales and private treaty in

Position
Description TITLE Part-Time Type Traits
Appraiser OBJECTIVE Provide accurate
evaluations and effective service to herd owners as member of the
appraisal staff for the AJCA linear type evaluation program. LOCATION Nationwide, on-site REPORTS TO Executive Secretary DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES
PLACEMENT STANDARDS College graduate with
a degree in the field of agriculture or equivalent experience. Dairy
production background is desired. Must be a self-starter and demonstrate
ability to work with a minimum amount of direct supervision. Must be
willing to travel extensively, have broad knowledge of the dairy industry
and excellent communication skills. Above
all, must have the ability to work well with people in a wide variety of
situations. CONTACT Frequent contact by
telephone, e-mail and in person with dairy producers and dairy industry
personnel. SALARY Commensurate with
experience. Travel expenses
are reimbursed. WORKING CONDITIONS Position requires
frequent travel for extended periods of time with overnight stays.
When not traveling, would use home as office.
Evenings, weekends, and holidays would be required to carryout the
responsibilities. This position
