Jersey Marketing Service (JMS) will follow these procedures when selling embryos in consignment sales:

  1. Only Grade 1 embryos collected and processed by an embryo transfer business (ETB) certified by the American Embryo Transfer Association (AETA) will be sold.

  2. JMS will have a copy of the Certificate of Embryos Recovery and Certificate of Freezing (AETA Forms A and C) before and during any sale.

  3. Embryos will remain at site of ownership until after sale. Upon payment, embryo delivery will be completed within 30 days.

  4. JMS will coordinate shipment of embryos, as follows:

Upon payment, seller will receive a JMS tank, if necessary, and instructions to properly prepare tank and where to ship the embryos.

JMS is responsible for cost of domestic delivery of tank and necessary insurance. JMS will provide round trip ticket, if applicable.

The buyer is responsible for tank return to either a JMS-designated location or back to the seller. JMS pays the cost.

  1. Transfer of ownership will remain consistent with live animal transfers through the American Jersey Cattle Association (AJCA).

Export Qualified Embryos

  1. Embryos that are washed in trypsin will be listed as "Trypsin Washed." Instructions to "Contact Sale Manager for details of export qualifications" will immediately follow.

  2. Once this contact has been made, Jersey Marketing Service (JMS) will proceed to determine the specific testing requirements for that country.
