Official Performance Pedigrees play an essential role in breeding and merchandising programs.  For many years the AJCA has provided pedigrees automatically to REAP and TPE herds for cows when they complete lactations and for heifers when they are registered.  With the advent of Internet pedigrees, herd owners have requested the option of ordering pedigrees online, as needed, at no charge, as an alternative to receiving pedigrees automatically. 

The AJCA Board of Directors adopted a policy to offer REAP and TPE herds four pedigree options.  All REAP and TPE herds will continue to receive pedigrees as they are now until they request that a change be made.

The four pedigree options are:

1. To automatically receive pedigrees with registrations and completed lactations.  These herds would not receive any Internet pedigree credits to order pedigrees online for free.

2. To automatically receive pedigrees with registrations, but not when cows complete lactations.  These herds will be issued an Internet pedigree credit equal to the number of cows they have enrolled in REAP or TPE.  For example, a 200 cow herd selecting this option will be able to order 200 pedigrees online for no additional fees.  The herd’s online pedigree credit would be available during the 12 months of enrollment.  Unused credits would not be carried forward to the next year.

3. To automatically receive pedigrees when cows complete lactations, but not with registrations.  These herds will be issued an online pedigree credit equal to 50% of the number of cows enrolled in REAP or TPE.  A 200 cow herd selecting this option will be able to order 100 pedigrees online for no additional fees.  The pedigree credit would be available during the 12 months of enrollment.  Unused credits would not be carried forward to the next year.

4. Not to receive any pedigrees automatically.  These herds will be issued online pedigree credits equal to 150% of the number of cows enrolled in REAP or TPE.  A 200 cow herd would be able to order 300 pedigrees online for no additional fees.  The online pedigree credit would be available during the 12 months of enrollment.  Unused credits would not be carried forward to the next year.
